EMDR Therapy Intensives

EMDR intensives are personalized treatment plans that include longer sessions and are designed to work with your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals. These intensive sessions are 1.5-2 hours long. Compared to weekly hour-long therapy sessions, intensives can offer a sense of spaciousness in session while also providing more efficiency, flexibility, and faster relief.

EMDR intensives often feel more spacious and calm: EMDR was initially developed and studied with the format of 90-minute sessions. I find that these longer sessions allow for a sense of spaciousness and nervous system regulation for both myself and clients, as we can settle in and move with less awareness of the clock while making more progress towards our goal.

EMDR intensives are efficient: the intensive format allows more time for doing deep work, because of less time spent on checking in at the beginning of each session, addressing current crises and concerns, or assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. Reducing the number of separate sessions also reduces the time spent experiencing these short-term after effects.

EMDR intensives are flexible: competing needs in modern life can make it difficult to set aside time each week for therapy sessions. Some clients find it more convenient to dedicate a half-day or a weekend to a therapy intensive rather than attending therapy every week.

EMDR intensives offer faster relief: intensive therapy means you get more help sooner, making it possible reduce symptoms faster.

I use EMDR in combination with Internal Family Systems (IFS) to address trauma, anxiety, phobias, low self-worth and performance enhancement.

Insurance follows an hour-long model of therapy and does not cover the intensive format. My intensive program is not in-network with any insurance companies. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be able to submit a receipt to have partial reimbursement for the first hour of each intensive session. In addition, if you’ve been the victim of a violent crime, you may qualify for victim’s compensation to help cover the cost of intensive treatment.
