Hi, I’m zoë.
I’m a licensed therapist specializing in EMDR. My areas of practice include trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, attachment issues, substance use, self-esteem, and chronic pain. I’m LGBTQ+ affirming and am deeply respectful of all sexual and gender identities, cultures and faiths.
I’m interested in the places where the mind meets the body and where the system meets the individual. I earned my B.A. in Sociology and my M.A. in Psychology, and am a certified EMDR therapist. Prior to starting private practice, I worked as a therapist and program director in school settings and residential treatment centers with adolescents, families, and transition-age youth. When I’m not working, I enjoy writing, singing and spending time in nature with loved ones.
My Approach
My approach is to help you build upon your strengths, develop strategies to manage immediate challenges, and heal the root causes of struggles you’re having. We may start with skills to calm your nervous system when you have anxiety or trauma symptoms, or with education to gain insight into your experiences. We may work on strengthening your relationships and support system. As we process underlying issues, my hope is that you start to experience a sense of greater agency, self-worth and authenticity.
The techniques I use vary depending on the unique needs and goals of each client. These techniques include EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), parts work integrating Internal Family Systems and EMDR, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness. I can be a primary therapist or do adjunctive EMDR sessions for those who already have a talk therapist.
