EMDR Intensives

more space for deep work

I offer EMDR intensive sessions, which are 90 minutes or 120 minutes, in order to dedicate more of our time together to deep inner transformation. This extended format gives us plenty of time to check in, dive deep with EMDR integrated with Internal Family Systems and attachment work, and gently return to the present to end session feeling grounded. EMDR intensive sessions can be scheduled bi-weekly, monthly, or in a retreat format (3 days back to back).

  • EMDR was initially developed and studied with the format of 90-minute sessions. I find that these longer sessions allow for a sense of spaciousness for both myself and clients, as we can settle in and move with less awareness of the clock while making more progress towards our goal.

  • The intensive format allows more time for doing deep work, because of less time spent on checking in at the beginning of each session, addressing current crises and concerns, or assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. Learn more here. In addition, since EMDR is quite energy intensive, some clients experience fatigue following EMDR sessions for the remainder of the day or into the next day. Reducing the number of separate sessions also reduces the time spent experiencing these short-term after effects.

  • Modern life can make it difficult to set aside time each week for therapy sessions. Some clients prefer to have a longer session biweekly, monthly, or for a retreat weekend rather than attending therapy every week.

  • My rate is $160 per hour. The cost for a 90 minute intensive session is $240. The cost for a two hour intensive is $320.

Insurance does not cover intensive sessions. My EMDR intensive program is not in-network with insurance.
